A Commander strategy that focuses all resources on making a single creature — usually your commander — overwhelmingly powerful through equipment, auras, and pump effects, then winning through commander damage (21 points).
How Voltron Works
The name comes from the cartoon robot assembled from smaller pieces. In MTG, you “assemble” your commander by stacking equipment and auras onto it until it deals lethal commander damage (21) in one or two swings.
Key Voltron Components
- Commander — needs hexproof, indestructible, or evasion built in
- Equipment — Sword of Feast and Famine, Lightning Greaves
- Auras — Ethereal Armor, All That Glitters
- Protection — Swiftfoot Boots, Mother of Runes
- Evasion — trample, flying, unblockable effects
Popular Voltron Commanders
- Uril, the Miststalker — hexproof + aura synergy
- Sram, Senior Edificer — equipment + card draw
- Sigarda, Host of Herons — hexproof + sacrifice protection
Voltron’s Weakness
The all-in-one strategy means removal is devastating. One exile effect undoes multiple turns of setup. Build with redundancy — multiple protection pieces and backup voltron targets.
