Why Play Bruvac the Grandiloquent

Mill strategies gain explosive power with Bruvac's doubling effect, turning modest mill spells into devastating library destruction. At three mana, he provides excellent value in dedicated mill decks that can immediately capitalize on his static ability. Playing him early allows you to threaten lethal mill damage much faster than opponents expect, often ending games within a few turns when combined with efficient mill spells.

Format Notes

Bruvac excels most in Commander, where his legendary status makes him an ideal mill-focused commander and the multiplayer format provides multiple targets for mill effects. In Legacy and Historic, he sees niche play in dedicated mill decks that can protect him while executing quick kills. The card faces no ban restrictions and maintains steady demand due to its unique effect and Commander popularity, though it requires specific deck construction to maximize effectiveness.

Combos & Synergies

Persistent Petitioners creates an immediate combo threat, as multiple copies can mill enormous chunks of libraries with Bruvac in play. Traumatize becomes a potential one-shot kill against most opponents, milling their entire remaining library instead of just half. Archive Trap and other zero-mana mill spells gain incredible efficiency, while repeated mill effects from cards like Maddening Cacophony can quickly empty multiple libraries in multiplayer games.
