Steps

Activate Marath by paying {1} and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Elemental creature token.
When the Elemental enters the battlefield, Tribute to the World Tree triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on the Elemental.
Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing the Elemental, adding {R}.
When the Elemental dies, Resourceful Defense triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Marath.
Repeat.
Once you have infinite +1/+1 counters on Marath, you may put the +1/+1 counters on any other creature you control.

Show steps

Activate Thermopod by sacrificing the creature with a coin counter on it.
When the creature dies, Resourceful Defense and Athreos trigger.
Resolve the Resourceful Defense trigger, putting a coin counter on another nontoken creature you control.
Resolve the Athreos trigger, returning the creature that died in step 1 from your graveyard to the battlefield.
Repeat.
