Relentless Assault
Sorcery
Untap all creatures that attacked this turn. After this main phase, there is an additional combat phase followed by an additional main phase.
Why Play Relentless Assault
Aggressive red decks use Relentless Assault to close out games by effectively doubling their damage output in a single turn. The card shines when you have a board full of creatures that can survive combat, allowing you to attack twice and potentially deal lethal damage out of nowhere. Four mana is expensive for aggro strategies, but the explosive potential makes it worthwhile in decks built around creatures with haste or protection abilities that can reliably connect with opponents.Format Notes
Commander is where Relentless Assault sees the most play, fitting naturally into aggressive tribal decks and combat-focused strategies led by commanders like Alesha, Who Smiles at Death or Najeela, the Blade-Blossom. The card sees occasional fringe play in Modern's more aggressive builds but struggles to compete with faster combo finishes. Legacy and Vintage applications are extremely rare due to the format's speed and interaction density.Combos & Synergies
Creatures with vigilance like Serra Angel maximize Relentless Assault's value since they don't need the untap effect, effectively giving you two full combat phases with the same attackers. Savage Beating creates an incredible combo potential, as casting both in sequence can lead to three additional combat phases in a single turn. Cards that generate value from attacking, such as Brimaz, King of Oreskos, compound the effect by creating additional creatures during the first combat phase.Featured in These Decks
